Where can I find nice furniture for my new apartment at an affordable price?
JD asked:
Should I shop online?, I’ve seen that the typical furniture stores mostly have big, old fashion sofas and loveseats.

check the local classified ads
No, go to an Ashley store. They have amazing financing, and the selection is fantastic. They are now starting to go more and more with not just transitional but also contemporary designs. And, don’t rule out thrift stores–you’ll be amazed what you find there.
Try craigslist.com . It is an online classified ad, and I find great bargains there all the time.
Love sac, online if you don’t have a store in your area. The website has a listing of stores by state.
Good luck!
Sam’s Club has very nice furniture. And it is priced well and very classy looking.
Honestly, I have picked up some great furniture from trash night and garage sales.
Remember to properly clean the items you obtain.
If you aren’t nearly as ‘frugal’ as I am, try Good Will or The Salvation Army.
I like IKEA the best. good prices but you have to put it together yourself. go to ikea.com to order a catalog or find nearest store or order online.
I check out garage/yard sales and resale shops. Its the best price you will get anywhere, you know the furniture is sturdy and sometimes you find things that rock but aren’t made anymore. Also, you can get some great wood pieces the same way or at an unfinished wood store, refinish the pieces and then have something unique to you.
The only drawback is that it takes time and sometimes weeks until you find something you like. However, the hunt is fun and a great way to spend weekends.
How about Ikea? Be careful if you try to go second hand instead. There could be a problem with bedbugs in used upholstered furniture.
Try: (all have store, catalog & web) West Elm, Room and Board, Ikea, CB2, Pier 1, Design within Reach (DWR), Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Restoration Hardware (some good buys when on sale) and Ikea again.
I find that Target has nice items and are usually well priced and fashionable.
Value City Furniture.
